Art is Language of Soul

Excursion to Silute, to opening ceremony of water-colour painters’ exhibition in Fredric Bajoraitis’ library

Written by Jurate Sucylaite

Art as therapy, and arts therapies mean more and more in our life. When we experience the process of creativity, we are in motion: we go out off cocoon: we fly from world of frozen dreams and emotions into new life. In this spiritual journey we discover self, joy, and get new energy for survivor.
All forms of art: fine arts, music and poetry are used for healing in Klaipeda Psychiatric Hospital. Person paints or writes, because he is creative. Soul means more than illness or suffering, and art is language of Soul.

Renate Lusis is an artist, painter, well known in the region of West Lithuania. Specialists of mental health and patients with mental disorders know her as leader of arts therapy group as well as an artist. Renate Lusis often organizes exhibitions of paintings and excursions to nearest places to take part in cultural events.
The exhibition of water-colour works, painted by masters of Lithuania, Latvia, Finland and Sweden was opened in Silute, in library of Fredric Bajoraitis in April. Renate Lusis came to opening ceremony with members of her arts therapy studio. She was a guide in exhibition, made comments about works of her colleagues. It was possible to see some paintings from arts therapy studio between works of professional authors.
People from other clubs of disabled persons took part in opening ceremony of exhibition. Later they all have common meeting in small hall of library and shared their feelings and ideas how to survive, and how to confirm life meaning and vitality. They sang songs, read poetry, drank coffee or tea.
